Midlife Crisis

GMTK Game Jam 2025 Submission

"Endure the cycle of life, highly nimble when young, combat-hardened when old. Platform and shoot your way to the top."

For the 2025 GMTK game jam, my team and I created a 2D platformer that draws influences from Metroidvania games. With the theme being loops, we focused a game around the idea of the player character going through different phases of life. The main way we tied it to the theme was by having the phases loop as the player reaches various parts of the game.

Key part of the game was planning how where and when the player would change through the different phases of their age.

The team I was part of all worked remote so we used Miro the plan out the games flow, helping us to track what abilties the player would have access to.
